The children of Wimberley had a hands-on opportunity to practice their business skills last week at the Kid-preneur Kid’s Market hosted by the Friend’s of the Wimberley Village Library.
There was a $5 charge for each booth helping make it a fundraiser for the Friend’s organization. The kids kept the rest of what they sold.
“It was some first hand experience in business skills,”Josie Bisett, with the Friends of the Wimberley Village Library, said. “They did it all on their own. They researched what they wanted to do… A lot of these kids put so much effort planning it, working it and creating it.”
There were 42 kid vendor booths set up with many of them hosting more than one business.
“It went so well,” Bisett said. “It surpassed my expectations. We just had such a variety. There was a kid selling snow cones, and my son was making (large) bubbles. There was a manicure stall and face painting. One was a flamingo hoop toss game. We had three lemonade stands, cookies and a plant stand sell ing seedlings. One stand sold their goods, so they could donate to Barnabas Connection. It was a really good event and a lot of fun.”
There will be an open house at the library showing off the plans for expansion and renovations on May 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit wimberleylibrary.org.
