For the first time since 2019, the annual Wimberley Ace Hardware street dance made its grand return as Wimberley Valley residents gathered in the parking lot to help commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wimberley Ace Hardware.
“It’s pretty awesome to see the smiles and the kids and everyone having fun,” Christy Degenhart said.
Bounce houses, dunk tanks, live music, and food/drink all parked themselves within the parking lot of Ace Hard ware, which attracted many community members.
Many organizations came to support the street dance as well as raise funds for their own causes.
“We have Habitat for Humanity selling hamburgers and hotdogs,” Degenhart said. “Wimberley Youth Sports Association is doing fajitas. Wimberley High School Cheer is selling baked goods. Wimberley FCA is selling drinks tonight. VFW is here promoting the Memorial Rodeo and Armed Forces Day. Freedom Canine is here with information about their dogs they partner with the high school to become service dogs.”
Wimberley High School Special Olympics was selling t-shirts and tickets for use of the bounce houses.
But for Degenhart, seeing the community come together to support each other is the best part.
“It’s great,” Degenhart said. “It’s good for the younger kids in this town along with the older generation to come together to do something for the entire community, and that’s what I like to see.”
