Despite a rough outing against Fredericksburg, the Lady Texans still remain on top of the district standings with an important win over Bandera.
Wimberley was able to split their outings in district this week as the Lady Texans came away with a 51-32 win over Bandera Tuesday night before falling to top ranked Fredericksburg on the road in a 71-39 loss.
Despite the loss, Wimberley improved their record to 18-11 overall and are currently sitting at second place in district with a 2-1 record.
In their game against Bandera, the Lady Texans were able to score first when senior Makenzie Haston stole the ball and scored on the fast break to go up 2-0.
Wimberley scored on another fast break as Lily Dela Rosa stole the ball and scored to put the Lady Texans up 4-0.
Bandera was then able to come back and soon trailed 8-5 late in the first quarter.
However Dela Rosa was able to extend the lead as the freshman hit a three pointer as the Lady Texans went up 11-5.
With the score now at 13-7, Raygan Pack was able to hit another Lady Texan three pointer to put Wimberley up 16-7.
In the second quarter, Wimberley was up 21-13 with 3:54 left in the period.
Haston took a fast break again and added another two points for the Lady Texans up 23-13.
Up 25-13, Pack hit another three pointer to extend the lead at 28-13.
The Lady Texans were able to hold on to their lead on their way to a 51-32 win.
Leading the team in scoring was Dela Rosa with 18 points followed by Campbell Woodard and Haston with 10 points each.
Haston led the team in rebounds with 12 completing a double-double and Laney Hennessee was second with 10.
The Lady Texans return to play on Tuesday at home against Davenport before traveling to Boerne to take on the top ranked Lady Hounds.
