In 1972 Wimberley Market Day moved from the square in downtown Wimberley to its present-day location, a mile or so west of downtown on FM 2325. At that time, the Wimberley Lions purchased 7 acres of the current 20-acre site and named it Lions Field. Today, Wimberley Market Day has grown from one concession stand and about
100 vendors to 10 concession stands and over 400 booths.
Wimberley Market Day is held on the First Saturday of each month, rain or shine. In May, shopping hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lions Field is located off FM 2325, about a mile from the Wimberley Square. The $5.00 donation accepted at the Lions Club’s parking lots and all food and drink sales helps to fund the various grants and scholarships distributed by the Wimberley Lions Club which has given back over $4,000,000 to the Wimberley community.
