The 30th almost annual Pie Social was held this past Saturday at the Wimberley Valley
Museum. This is always the largest fundraiser for the Museum.
Hosted by the Wimberley Institute of Cultures, this year’s pie social is thought to be the largest in the 30 year history.
There were 75 pies entered in competition and an equal amount that were brought in just to be sliced and sold. All of the pies were tasted without the nine judges knowing the names of who submitted.
Other attractions included Mini Equine 2U with their miniature horse and donkey and Freedom Canines, which brought service dogs. They captured the attention of all the children and adults alike. Speaking of pie eating, there was also a competition of pie eating between “Coach” Richard Smith, Ken Strange, Sue Eubank and Sahale Eubank with Coach taking the top pie eating honors. He finished his pie in record time even while the ladies ended up wearing most of theirs.
