Arts Fest returns

The 14th annual Wimberley Arts Fest is back, after a two year pause from the COVID-19 pandemic this weekend at The Waters Point.

The 14th annual Wimberley Arts Fest is back, after a two year pause from the COVID-19 pandemic this weekend at The Waters Point.

For Jan Fitzhugh, the owner of Art of 12 and one the people who helps organize Wimberley Arts Fest, not only are the artists themselves happy to return but also the locals and visitors to Arts Fest as well.

“I’m thrilled to have Arts Fest back,” Fitzhugh said. “We missed two years of Arts Fest, and so the artists that are coming are very excited. I’m also having a lot of local people and people who have attended Arts Fest before say they are thrilled that it’s back and can’t wait to get there. So it should be good.”

The festival will feature local artists, Texas artists and out of state artists exhibiting their artwork to the public among different mediums from painting, photography, jewelry and mixed media just to name a few.

The festival will also feature live music as well as food trucks parked on the banks of the Blanco River along with beer and wine booths.

As such, Fitzhugh is expecting a big crowd to be there.

“We probably have around 1,000 attendees,” Fitzhough said. “We have 100 artists coming along with eight bands that are going to be playing throughout the festival so we are expecting a big crowd.”

A first for Wimberley Arts Fest, in conjunction with the 12 Kings Car Club, is the Arts Fest Charity Car Show benefiting the Barnabas Connection and the Hays/ Caldwell Women’s Center.

“We’ve been doing the car show with the event since the first Arts Fest,” Fitzhugh said. “12 Kings Car Club are helping sponsor the event and it’s the first car show that is connected to Arts Fest that is actually a fundraiser, which is raising funds for the Barnabas Connection and the Hays/Caldwell Women’s Center.”

Arts Fest will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 until 5 p.m and will reopen on Sunday at 11 a.m closing at 4 p.m.
