After dropping the regular season finale against Boerne 19-4, the Wimberley Texan softball team will look to keep their season going in the playoffs.

It was a rough start for the Texans as Boerne immediately came out of the gates scoring seven runs in the first inning.

The Greyhounds added three runs in the second inning then seven in the third inning to take a commanding lead.

Wimberley avoided the goose egg by scoring four runs in the bottom of the third inning before Boerne eventually won the game at 19-4.

It has truly been a rollercoaster ride for the Texans who finished the regular season with a 10-11 record and a 4-6 district record, which was good enough for 4th place.

Perhaps one of the wildest games this season was the Texans clash with the Marion Bulldogs where both teams combined for 61 runs in Marion’s 36-25 win.

Their tenacity in that game helped springboard the Texans in their wins over Bandera and Davenport where Wimberley found themselves trailing in both games on the road.

With Wimberley needing both wins over Bandera and Davenport to qualify for the playoffs, the Texans fought back to win both games and make the playoffs.

On tap for the Texans in the Bi-District round of playoffs is a clash with the Navarro Panthers who won District 27.

As of the time of press, the location, time and date has yet to be determined.
