In a critical district series, the Texans split with the rival Navarro Panthers, dropping Game 1 on the road 9-5 before winning Game 2 9-2 at home.

With the results, Wimberley’s overall record goes to 15-4-1 while their district record goes to 7-1. Wimberley remained in first place and tied with Davenport with identical 7-1 records.

On Tuesday, the Texans made the trip over the Navarro in the first meeting with the Panthers.

Wimberley struck first in the top of the first inning when Jayden Hall hit an RBI double to go up 1-0. In the same inning, Wyatt Yeatter scored another run for the Texans, laying down the bunt RBI single and putting Wimberley up 2-0.

Navarro answered back in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs and tying the game at 2-2.

In the top of the second inning, Maverick Jacobs hit an RBI single to give the lead back to Wimberley. Later, Ty Thames connected with a two-run RBI single, extending the lead to 5-2.

The Panthers responded again, scoring seven unanswered runs as Navarro went on to win 9-5.

Returning home on Friday, Wimberley looked to even the series.

Once again, the Texans scored first as Thames hit an RBI single, putting Wimberley up 1-0.

With runners on first and second, Yeatter crushed the ball over the left field fence, extending the Texan lead to 3-0.

Navarro answered back with a home run of their own but the Texans were not going to let Navarro attempt another comeback.

In the bottom of the second, the Texans scored on a Navarro error, making it a 5-1 game.

Later in the sixth inning, Wimberley added crucial insurance runs. Facing runners on first and second, Jayden Hall hit a two-run RBI double, extending the lead to 7-1. In the next at-bat, Thames hit the second Texan home run of the game, smashing a two-run home run over the wall in center field and giving the Texans a 9-1 lead.

Navarro tried to make their comeback, scoring a run in the top of the seventh inning but were unable to score any more runs as Wimberley came away with the 9-2 win.

The pitching duo of Thames and Jayden Hall combined to allow just four hits, two earned runs, five walks and striking out ten batters.

Wimberley closes out the regular season this week with a twogame series against the Davenport Wolves. The Wolves are coming off a two-game sweep of the Bandera Bulldogs, winning Game 1 10-1 before winning Game 2 18-0.

Wimberley will host Davenport on Tuesday before traveling on the road Friday. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
