Wimberley will mark the ten-year anniversary of the 2015 Memorial Day flood with a special concert on May 24 to honor the lives lost and recognize the resilience of our community after widespread devastating damage.
The commemorative concert will also celebrate and support area first responders and feature performances by Jesse Stratton and Texas country legend Gary P. Nunn.
“The 2015 flood was a tragic and defining moment for Wimberley, but everyone came together, supported one another and proved our strength as a community,” said Jim Chiles, Mayor of Wimberley. “This concert is a tribute to those we lost, those who rebuilt, and the first responders who continue to serve our town.” An important part of the commemoration will feature statements from those who experienced the flood first hand and can tell of the recovery that followed.
If you were there, please lend your voice to the Wimberley Strong collective memory. Send your experience, thoughts and reflections of the night when the Blanco River became a 40-foot wall of water. Send them to the Wimberley View via email to tkendrick@wimberleyview. com or by mail to 101 FM3237, Wimberley, TX 78767.
We will remember.
