The Texans remain undefeated in district play with a two-game sweep of the Bandera Bulldogs last week.

Wimberley improves their record to 12-3-1 overall and their district record to 4-0.

In the first game of the series on Tuesday, the Texans made the trip over to Bandera. Wimberley struck first when senior Ty Thames hit an RBI single to put the Texans up 1-0.

Bandera later tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI single, making the score 1-1.

But the tie didn’t last long. In the next at-bat, the Texans retook the lead on a RBI single from senior Wyatt Yeater. Following Yeater, Sage Hall hit a sacrifice fly in right field, extending the lead to 3-1. The Texans later scored another run when Thames stole home on the double steal attempt.

Jayden Hall added to Wimberley’s lead, hitting a sac fly into left field to make 5-1 in the top of the fourth inning. The Texans scored another run on a sac fly from Gentry McGinnis in the top of the fifth inning, making it a 6-1 game. A wild pitch allowed Sage Hall to score as Wimberley extended the lead 7-1.

Jayden Hall scored another RBI on a groundout while Bryson Anderson scored from third, pushing the Texans lead to 8-1. Bandera scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning but it was not enough as Wimberley won 8-3.

On the mound, Mc-Ginnis, Yeatter and Thames combined to allow just three hits, three earned runs, five walks and striking out 12 batters.

The Texans returned home on Friday to finish their series with Bandera.

Trailing 2-0 after the top of the first, the Texans answered with a Yeatter RBI single, cutting the WImberley deficit down to 2-1. Wimberley took the lead on a Sage Hall RBI single combined with a Bandera error, scoring two runs and going up 3-2. Wimberley scored on an- other Bandera fielding error, extending their lead to 4-2.

Wimberley retook the lead in the next atbat, scoring two runs on a Thames RBI single and putting the Texans up 6-4.

Once again Bandera tied the game, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Yet again the Texans answered back and retook the lead on a Yeatter sac fly as Wimberley was back up at 7-6.

However, the Texans made sure the Bulldogs were not going to answer back. Wimberley scored on a Bandera fielding error to lead 8-6 before loading up the bases.

Jayden Hall connected with a two-run RBI double before Thames hit a two-run RBI single, making it a 12-6 Texans’ lead.

A fielding error by Bandera scored another run for the Texans as Wimberley entered the sixth inning up 13-6.

After the bases were loaded by three consecutive singles from McGinnis, Maverick Jacobs and Anderson, Jayden Hall cleared the bases with an RBI triple to clinch the win via mercy rule at 16-6.

Wimberley is back in district play this week with a two-game series against the rival Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies.

The Billies are coming off being swept by the Davenport Wolves last week, losing game one 3-1 and game two 9-1.

The Texans will be back home Tuesday for game one before going on the road Friday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
