Locals and visitors alike have gotten accustomed to seeing Wimberley’s Chamber of Commerce and the Visitor Center under the same roof at 14100 RR12, in the familiar building next to the Brookshire Brothers parking lot. While one can still find both enti- ties there, the Wimberley Visitor Center took a significant step in 2024 by appointing a new, independent board of directors, separate from the Chamber board.
While the Chamber primarily focuses on supporting members and attracting new businesses to the area, and the city’s newly rehabbed Wimberley Valley Welcome Center on Old Kyle Rd. focuses on tourism, the Visitor’s Center aims to provide visitors and new and current residents information and resources about the Wimberley community. All three entities will get the word out on Wimberley’s rich culture.
For the last two-plus decades, the Visitor Center has been the first point of contact for visitors and new residents. “Our mission is to preserve and enhance this vital community resource,” said Board Chair Karen Poe. “With a fresh perspective, we are upgrading the facility, rebranding and finding innovative ways to serve Wimberley.”
While their mission continues to evolve, the Visitor Center will resume fostering strong relationships with the City of Wimberley, the City of Woodcreek, the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce, as well as businesses and local residents.
The new board includes Pam LeCompte and Clay Ewing as Directors, Karen Poe as Chair and Treasurer, Deb Johnson as Secretary, and Jerri Roberts serving as the Chamber liaison. Every board member is also an active volunteer.
With its prime location on RR12 and ample parking, the Wimberley Visitor Center remains a symbol of hospitality and connection. The board welcomes anyone interested in volunteering to reach out at [email protected] or stop by the Wimberley Visitor Center.
