The 4th Chair Project opens at ARTSPACE, 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, 111 River Rd., Suite 100. Exhibiting artists will be on hand to talk with visitors about their work and elaborate on the event that inspired the show. Refreshments will be served.

April 4

Woodcreek’s Fourth Annual Arbor Day Celebration, at Triangle Park in Woodcreek, 5 to 7 p.m. Hosted by the city’s Trees and Parks Board, the celebration features an Oak Wilt 101 session and Q&A with tree experts from Texas A&M Forest Service, We Love Trees, Oak Wilt Pros, and Simple Leaf Tree Care. Hays County Master Naturalists, Hays County Master Gardeners Outreach, Native Plant Society of Texas will share best practices for tree care and preservation. Laidback, picnic-style atmosphere with free food from a local food truck, while supplies last, and BYO beverages. Face painting, storytime, snow cones and a tree-themed craft for kids.

Wimberley Market Day at Lions Field, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with more than 500 booths filled with a wide variety of items, concessions and interesting people.

37th Annual Wimberley Home Tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Selfpaced, two-day tour of homes in the Wimberley Valley. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at Wimberleyccc.org or in person at the Wimberley Visitor Center, 14100 RR12, April 2, 3 and 8 - 12. Online tickets can also be picked up those days. Bring receipt for verification and collect the tour map.t

25th Annual Butterfly Festival, 9 to 3 p.m., at the Emily Ann theatre & Gardens, 1101 FM2325, Memorial Butterfly Release, 9 to 10 a.m., live butterfly releases every 30 minutes, butterfly flight house, animal meet and greet, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., mini donkeys and horses, llamas, concessions and many more activities.

Free to attend and park, but donations are welcome.

April 12

The second annual Wimberley Film Festival, 6 to 10:00 p.m., at Blue Hole Regional Park, 333 Blue Hole Ln. Hosted by Netta Lou Creative and Wimberley Parks and Recreation, this unique film festival highlights Texas-made short films, documentaries and experimental films. (Some films are rated PG-13.) There’s live music, a swim at Blue Hole if desired and it benefits The Watershed Association. Tickets are $20 per person, at wimberleyparksandrec. com/special-events/ Children 10 and under free. In the event of inclement weather, alternative dates will be announced online.

Community Clean-up Day, 8 a.m. to noon or until the bins are full, at the LIon’s Club Parking lot, 601 FM2325. Bring your tired, worn out and broken sofas, stoves, refrigerators, water tanks, washing machines, AC units, sinks, toilets, furniture, and other waste materials (certified where applicable as Freon-free). Prohibited are any hazardous items, chemical compounds, mixtures or substances, no paints, motor oils, gasoline, mattresses, box springs, brush or tires. Questions 800 375-8375.

The Hill Country Community Band will present a concert of favorite movie themes titled “Supercalifragilistic Sousa-Travaganza” at the Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The program will include medleys from “The Sound of Music,” “Mary Poppins,” and “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.”

Also included will be “Watchman, Tell Us of the Night,” by Mark Camphouse, and the rousing “Mother Hubbard March,” by John Philip Sousa.

Directed by Dr. Manuel Arambula, the concert is family friendly and free to attend.

Weekly Events

National Mahjongg League groups meet Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Valley Library, 400 FM2325. The library owns sets, players should bring their own card. On Wednesdays, a group meets 10 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Senior Citizens room at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 RR12. Bring sets, cards and a $1 donation for coffee and snacks.

42 Players meet Tuesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Senior Citizens Center. Partners not necessary. A $1 donation supports coffee and snacks.
