Wimberley HS senior Laney Hennessee was awarded the Texas Girls Coaches Association 4A-1A Athlete of the Year for volleyball on Thursday at a ceremony held in Texan Gym. The award is the highest honor given in each sport from TGCA.
Presenting the honor to Laney was Lee Grisham, TGCA’s Assistant Executive Director (and retired 6x State Champion WHS volleyball coach) and Sam Tipton, TGCA’s Executive Director.
Laney led the Lady Texans to the school’s 7th state title in volleyball this past fall and was named the 4A-II State Tournament MVP, TGCA All-State, District 26-4A MVP, and received numerous other awards and honors. She will continue her volleyball career at the University of Alabama next year.
