Learn to be ready for anything at Preparedness Fair March 29

The Fourth Annual Wimberley Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair gets underway this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #6441 grounds. Whatever the disaster – a wildfire, storm, flood, or emergency such as a drug overdose or other medical emergency – it shows residents how to cope in the first 72 hours of an emergency.

With the recent Crabapple wildfire north of Fredericksburg that burned nearly 10,000 acres and red flag fire danger warnings in effect from Arizona to Missouri, as well as the ten year anniversary of the Memorial Day Flood of 2015, disaster can strike without warning.

Attendees can learn how to prepare with checklists, survival kits and how to pack a “Go Bag.”

The free event is accessible for the entire family with food, shaved ice, prizes, a speed pitch competition, and mini equines. First responders, emergency management experts and law enforcement officials will be there with their rescue equipment to dispense expert advice that could save a life, a home, livestock and pets.

Classes to be held during the Fair are:

• 10:30 am-11:00 am Fentanyl Awareness

• 11:00 am-11:15 am Take 10 CPR Class

•11:15 am-11:30 am NOAA Weather Program

•11:30 am-12:00 pm Stop The Bleed

•12:00 pm-12:15 pm Take 10 CPR Class

•12:15 pm-12:30 pm NOAA Weather Program
