In September 2024, Wimberley United Methodist Church established a Green Team whose mission is to care for the earth, raise awareness about the plight of our planet, educate our community about conservation practices and learn how our land use affects neighbors downstream from us.
The Green Team is hosting two events in April. On April 2, Robert Mace from the Meadows Center at Texas State University and Linda Kaye Rogers from the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District will offer presentations about the water situation in Wimberley. Water: every Drop Matters will take place at the United Methodist Church from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
On April 26, the Green Team will host Earth Day Celebration 6. Booths from the Hays County Master Naturalists, Keep Wimberley Beautiful, The Wimberley Refillery, Native American Seed, native plant ideas, Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District and the Watershed Association will share their expertise with earth-friendly visitors. Games and activities for children and hot dogs from School Yard Dogs are part of the fun. Earth Day Celebration 6 will be held at UMC from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
Both events will take place at Wimberley UMC, 200 CR1492, at the corner of CR1492 and RR12, where the church hosts the Pumpkin Patch each year.
