Everything I wear is by accident

Is It Just Me?

I admire people who set their clothes out the night before. They don’t have to think about what they’re going to wear. I sometimes did that when I was working. It was nice to be able to jump out of bed and into my clothes, grab a cup of coffee and be on my way. Now I have so many things to keep me busy like reading, eating, and napping without adding the stress of deciding what I’m going to wear the night before I wake up. What if I change my mind? I admit that I do plan ahead for holidays, since I have many shirts for all occasions and I know where they are all stored. But my clothing choices are based on three things: First, what is clean and easily accessible. That means that I don’t have to open a closet or a drawer. It is most likely something I have washed and not put away yet. I have quite a few choices in those clean clothes baskets.

Next, I go through the clothes that are mostly clean. These are the clothes that are not quite ready to be washed. I’ll wear them to the grocery store, to get gas or to walk the dogs. I make sure they don’t smell too much.

Lastly, if it is a special occasion, I’ll open a closet door or drawer and try to match up something with one of my easily accessible clothes. But it also has to fit. My closet is filled with multiple sized clothes and I don’t like trying on clothes to see if they fit. My easily accessible clothes always fit because I have just worn and washed them. If someone compliments me on my outfit, I am surprised and have to look down at what I am wearing. I know I need to make more effort in how I dress, but much of my time is filled with reading, eating and napping.
