Wimberley softball faces off against Bandera Bulldogs

The Texans remained undefeated in district play, beating the Bandera Bulldogs 17-2.

The win improves Wimberley’s record to 6-12 and their district record to 2-0.

Wimberley struck first against Bandera

BOOSTER CLUB GIVES BIG SPORTS AROUND THE WIM. VALLEY in the top of the first inning when Emorie Gahan scored on a wild pitch from second base, giving the Texans the 1-0 lead. Bandera tied the game later in the first inning on a Texan fielding error.

Wimberley then loaded up the bases with one out, with a chance to take the lead. The Texans then forced

Wimberley scored again in the top of the fourth inning when Reagan Kenley hit a two-run RBI single, extending the lead to 8-1. Bandera answered in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI single.

Kenley struck again for the Texan offense in the top of the sixth, hitting an RBI double. Meadow Cryar followed up Kenley with an RBI double of her own, scoring two more runs and pushing the lead to 11-2.

Texans scored again on a bases loaded walk before Gahan hit a tworun RBI double, making it a 14-2 game.

Bailey Wright grounded out to the pitcher but not before another run came across for the Texans. Grace Strobel added the final runs of the game with a two-run RBI single.

Pitcher Campbell Woodard closed out the sixth inning to preserve the 17-2 win. Woodard finished the game, throwing a complete game while allowing just five hits, one earned run, three walks and striking out nine batters.

The Texans return home Tuesday for a showdown with the Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies with the winner taking first place outright in the District 26 standings.
