Both the Lady Texans and the Texans ended their respective seasons on a high note, capturing wins at home.
The Lady Texans played their final home game on Tuesday, going up against the Bandera Bulldogs. It was a dominating win for Wimberley, beating Bandera 10-0.
Sophomore Dylan Watson finished the game with the hat-trick while senior Addison Laney, junior Jordin Donaldson, senior Lauren Foster, junior Lili Sandoval, senior Haley Lopez, freshman Abby Durkin and junior Reagan Durkin all scored one goal. Freshman Emma Durkin and Donaldson both had two assists while sophomore Bella Zinkgraf, junior Cameron Thames, Lopez and Durkin all had one assist.
Wimberley closed out the season on the road at Fredericksburg. It was another victory for the Lady Texans defeating the Battlin’ Billies 7-2. Watson and Sandoval both scored three goals while Thames added one goal. Soph-omore Gwyneth Lerma and Lopez both had two assists while Donaldson had one.
With the two victories, the Lady Texans captured the outright district title and entered the Division II playoffs as the highest placing team in the district with an 19-1-2 overall record and a 8-0-2 district record.
Wimberley’s playoff run starts Thursday with the Lady Texans taking on the Lago Vista Vikings. Lago Vista enters the game with a 18-5 overall record and a 14-4 district record, placing in third. Kickoff for Wimberley-Lago Vista is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Fredericksburg.
The Texans closed out their season at home against Fredericksburg. In a thrilling game, Wimberley defeated the Battlin’ Billies 4-2. Hunter Hodgeson scored two goals for the Texans while Kaden Geron and Raul Canil both scored one goal.
Wimberley finishes the season with a 6-142 overall record and a 2-7-1 district record.
