The Texans won back to back games last week beating both Marion and district rival Canyon Lake.
The pair of wins improves their overall record 5-12 and their district record to 1-0.
Wimberley started the week on the road against the Marion Bulldogs.
The Texans took their first lead of the game in the top of the third when Baily Wright hit an RBI single, giving Wimberley a 1-0 lead. Marion later took their first lead of the game at 2-1 after an RBI single and a Texan fielding error in the bottom of the fourth.
But the lead didn’t last. In the next at-bat, Wright tied the game with anothe RBI single, making the score 2-2. With runners on second and third, Ella Patek gave the Texans the lead, crushing a three-run home run over the fence in left field. Going into the bottom of the fifth, Wimberley led 5-2.
The Texan defense shut down the Marion offense in both the sixth and seventh innings to seal the win. Grace Strobel was awarded the win, throwing a complete game and allowing just two hits, one earned run, five walks while striking out three batters.
Wimberley returned home on Friday to open district play against the archrival Canyon Lake Hawks.
The Texans took the lead in their first-bat of the day as Strobel hit a two-run RBI double, giving Wimberley a 2-0 lead. Wimberley extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning when Strobel hit another double to score one run. On the next play, the Texans scored two more runs on a Canyon Lake fielding error, pushing their lead to 5-0. Wimberley then tacked on another run on a bases loaded walk before a hit by a pitch with the bases loaded made it a 7-0 lead.
The Hawks added two more runs as both teams entered the sixth inning. The Texans added an insurance run on a Reagan Kenley RBI single to make it a 9-2 game.
Despite Canyon Lake scoring on an RBI single in the seventh inning, it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback as the Texans won 9-3.
Strobel earned her second win of the week in the circle, allowing just five hits, three earned runs, four walks and striking out 12 batters.
The Texans return to play Friday against Bandera.
