Wimberley’s fourth annual Emergency Preparedness Fair is coming to the VFW Fairgrounds, 401 Jacobs Well Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 29.
More than 40 exhibitors will be part of the fair. Each vendor will be displaying ways for Hill Country residents to prepare and respond to emergencies, specifically in the first 72 hours. The exhibitors will also share ways to prevent many emergencies before they happen.
Classes to be held during the Fair are:
• 10:30 am-11:00 am Fentanyl Awareness
• 11:00 am-11:15 am Take 10 CPR Class
•11:15 am-11:30 am NOAA Weather Program
•11:30 am-12:00 pm Stop The Bleed
•12:00 pm-12:15 pm Take 10 CPR Class
•12:15 pm-12:30 pm NOAA Weather Program
•12:30 pm-1:00 pm Fentanyl Awareness
Participants include Wimberley EMS, The City of Wimberley and Woodcreek, Wimberley Fire Department and Hays County Fire Marshall, Hays County Department of Emergency Services, PEC, WISD, Hays County Health Services, NOAA weather, Texas A&M Forestry Service.
There will be free hot dogs, snow cones, MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat) to sample, as well as door prizes, drones, Star Flight, Smokey the Bear, and mini equines to experience. The Lions Club will be providing free vision screening.
Since coincides with the first day of Youth baseball there will also be the opportunity to see how fast you throw a baseball or softball through the courtesy of the City of Woodcreek and benefitting Barnabas Connection’s Logans Dugout.
KWVH Wimberley Valley Radio will be broadcasting at the Fair and sharing ways that you can stay informed in times of emergencies.
EMS Director Ken Strange encourages residents to, “come to the Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, March 29 for a gathering of first responders, law enforcement experts in emergency management and more than 40 vendors who will share their knowledge about preparing for short- and long-term disasters. The event is free.
