Wimberley’s historic season came to an end Friday as the Texans fell to the top ranked La Marque Panthers 74-60.
The Texans end their season with a 27-10 overall record.
Wimberley started the week in the regional semifinals against the Wharton Tigers.
In a thrilling contest, Wimberley defeated Wharton 59-42 for the Texans first ever regional semifinal victory.
Junior Paul Gumbert- Mendoza led the team in scoring with 24 points. Sophomore Reece Wortham was second in scoring with 11 points.
Senior Gavin Olmer led the team in rebounding with nine followed by sophomore Nathan Baker with six.
The victory marked the first time the Texans have won three playoff games in a season and the first time Wimberley has won in the regional semifinal round.
Playing in their first ever regional final, the Texans made the long trip out to Katy to take on the top-ranked La Marque Panthers.
Though not giving up, Wimberley fell to La Marque 74-60 despite the Texans outscoring the Panthers 43-32 in the second half.
