Sow and Grow

I really like the phrase, “Sow and grow.” It can apply to so many aspects of life. Whether it’s planting a literal garden and nurturing plants to life, or sowing seeds of kindness, knowledge, or creativity, it’s all about the effort you put in and the growth you see over time.

Today, we shall highlight the actual gardening connotation and how you can do one small thing to help with water management, increase pollinator biodiversity and help with soil erosion. If you have not heard about the Native Seed Exchange Program at the Wimberley Library, then it’s time to stop by and utilize this wonderful free service.

The process is simple. Come and pick up some free native seeds. You can select five packets per growing season. Go home and plant.

Once the plant goes to seed at the end of the season, collect approximately 10% of the seeds and return them to the library to share with others.

The mission is just as simple. By planting these native seeds and increasing the abundance in the community, you are participating in a program that is a step towards beautifying our community while gardening with less water, providing food for pollinators and boosting our native plant population.

In addition, KWB will be giving away wildflower seeds at the EmilyAnn Gardens Butterfly Festival on April 12 and at the United Methodist Church’s Earth Day event on April 26.

You have asked and we have listened. KWB is working with the city, the constables and other entities to hopefully bring you another Spring CleanUp, a dumpster and large item disposal day that includes a Shred It and Drug Take Back event in April. The dates will be announced soon.
