The Texans brought home the Area championship last Saturday, defeating the Carrizo Springs Wildcats 65-58 and advancing to the 4A Division Region IV Semifinals.

The victory marks the first time the Texans have won a second round playoff since 2018 and the first time the Texans have qualified for the regional semifinals in program history.

Junior Paul Gumbert-Mendoza led the team in scoring with 34 points. Sophomore Reece Wortham was second in scoring with 10 points.

Senior Gavin Olmer led the team in rebounding with 11.

For the first time in program history, the Texans will play in a regional semifinal.

Wimberley will have a chance to make their first regional final in program history when the Texans battle the Wharton Tigers. The Tigers enter the game with a 26-11 overall record after placing second in District 29. Wharton defeated Sinton in the first round before beating Port Isabel in the second round.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cuero High School.
