“Crimes of the Heart” opens at the Wimberley Players theatre this weekend, 450 Old Kyle Rd., 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Sunday at 2 p.m. Written by Beth Henley and directed by Tysha Calhoun, this “dramedy” is about three sisters who meet for a family reunion. The Hot Rod Showdown, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 7A Ranch’s Pioneer Town, 333 Wayside Dr., showcases pre-1948 cars. The Hill Country Community Band presents the program “Requiem Aeternam,” at the Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, 4 p.m. The program features music by Guiseppe Verdi, Frank Ticheli, Johann Sebastian Bach, Karl King and John Philip Sousa. No charge to attend. The HCCB, directed by Dr. Manuel Arambula, is a non-profit, all volunteer wind band.
