The Wimberley Valley Habitat for Humanity celebrated the completion of their latest undertaking, House #23, on February 8 in the Woodcreek Springs neighborhood off Valley Springs Rd. Members, volunteers, friends and well-wishers gathered at 36 Persimmon Dr. with owners Jason Williams, Samantha Estes and their children Quincy, Devin and Gunner.
Pastor Shawn Stoever of Cypress Creek Church performed a blessing over the house, and the family received four handmade quilts for their new home from the Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild. On hand to present the quilts were Bert Nicholson, Mary Tomlinson and Donna Hector.
Habitat for Humanity International works in partnership with families who need decent, affordable housing. Interested individuals apply through local affiliates for acceptance into the program.
Criteria include their ability to repay an affordable mortgage or small loan, as well as their level of housing need and their willingness to partner with Habitat.
The Wimberley Valley Habitat for Humanity is currently taking applications for House #24. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2025. To learn more, apply, volunteer or to donate, visit wimberleyhabitat. org.
