Wimberley’s Jeffrey Brown and First Tuesday SMTX presents a second masterclass for aspiring filmmakers interested in learning or improving their documentary skills. Brown, who is a SXSW Documentary Mentor, teaches a very comprehensive course that focuses on unscripted, multimedia approaches to creating strong visual content for documentaries, applicable to YouTube and Tik Tok videos as well as videos used for marketing.

The course runs from Story and Storytelling through Budget and Finance, Production, Post-Production, Festival Strategy, Sales and Distribution.

The class will be held February 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Live Oak Studios on the Texas State University campus, 157 E. Sessom Dr. Free parking is available in the Live Oak parking lot.

“We could not have made our film without Jeffrey Brown’s Documentary Masterclass. It was priceless,” said Lisa Kay Pfannenstiel, producer of “Nothing Stays Same,” that earned a SXSW Music Documentary Prize.

Tickets are $79, or $39 for students with a current ID, at firsttuesdaysmtx. com. Contact [email protected] for additional information.

The class is presented in partnership with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, TXST Film and Hays County Film Advisory Board.
