The Wimberley Texan Athletic Booster Association, WTABA, has generously donated $100,000 to be distributed among all Wimberley Independent School District athletic teams.

The substantial contribution was raised through various fundraising activities, including the Tailgate with Texans event, Stadium Concessions Stand, Wimberley Ace Hardware’s donation from percentage of all Texan Gear sales, Fall Sports Program ads, Stadium Business Banner sales, and multiple businesses and families memberships/contributions.

The funds are set to benefit a wide range of athletic programs within WISD, providing essential support and resources to enhance the student-athlete experience. WTABA’s dedication to supporting WISD Athletics is evident in their continued efforts to raise and contribute funds.

WTABA’s generous donation will be used to help cover the cost of netting for the baseball and softball batting cages, a new custom Texan monument to be purchased to commemorate the volleyball team’s state championship and the tennis team’s 2024 state championship.

Last year’s donations from WTABA were used to cover cheerleaders’ participant sectional choreography, provided a water cooler for the training staff, and supplied uniforms, jerseys, warmups and pinnies for the girls’ soccer team. The girls’ soccer team also received custom soccer balls and backpacks.

The boys’ basketball team received travel gear, jerseys and gym floor mops. The tennis program received support to help cover the cost of state championship rings and the installation of a new water fountain and bottle filler at the tennis courts. The funds also went towards the purchase of a refrigerator for the baseball and softball sports complex and pole vaults for the track team.

Last year’s contributions went toward a custom Texan monument at the stadium for the track state championship, new uniforms for the junior high girls teams, volleyball uniforms, and hoodies, backpacks and shooting shirts for the girls basketball team. The swim team received training snorkels, and WTABA helped cover the cost of team buses to the football playoff in Corpus Christi, and lodging for the upcoming softball team’s Ingleside tournament.

WTABA also covered the remaining cost of a charter bus for fans to attend the volleyball state championship game this past year, ensuring strong community support and an unforgettable experience for the team and its supporters.

Additionally, WTABA will be giving out $15,000 in scholarships at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. WTABA, in collaboration with the Love Like Logan, or L3, scholarship committee, processed scholarship applications from the previous year which awarded $45,000 in scholarships, and supplied volunteers for past L3 events.
