Lady Texans take home Bi-District championship

Wimberley took home the Bi-District championship, defeating the Manor New Tech Titans 63-11.

The victory follows the Lady Texans finishing up the regular season with one of the best seasons in recent history with an overall record of 24-8. The postseason win marks the second year in a row the Lady Texans have in the Bi-District round of playoffs. Last season, Wimberley pulled off the upset and defeated La Vernia 46-43 for the Lady Texans first playoff win since 2016.

Seniors Lily Dela Rosa and Campbell Woodard both led the team in scoring with 15 points each followed by senior Laney Hennessee with 13 points. Senior Addie Laney was fourth in scoring with eight points.

Wimberley advances to the Area round of the playoffs where the Lady Texans will face a familiar foe in the Cuero Lady Gobblers.

Both Wimberley and Cuero have met twice before in the regular season. The Lady Texans won the first game at the Navarro Tournament, beating the Lady Gobblers 51-45. Cuero later got their revenge in their non-district showdown, beating Wimberley 49-32.

The third and final showdown between Wimberley and Cuero will take place Thursday night at Seguin High School. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
