The Wimberley Valley Big Band will hold a free Sweetheart Mardi Gras Concert and Dance February 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the VFW Post in Wimberley. The band will kick off 2025 with special swinging arrangements of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” to set up a “N’Awlins” vibe and will invite listeners to join in a handkerchief-waving “Second-line Promenade.”

Songbird Kathy Burnette will sing “At Last,” The HoneyTones will take listeners for a trip on the “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” and John Greer will go cross-country with “Route 66.”

Fans are encouraged to dress up for Mardi Gras, or not. According to insiders, the Band will be wearing black “and lots of bling.”

Light snacks are available to purchase from the VFW Auxiliary and attendees may bring their own coolers.

The VFW Post #6441 is located at 401 Jacobs Well Rd. Ample parking is available.
