The Texans and the Lady Texans continued their pushes deep into district play as both teams looked to punch their tickets into the postseason.

The Lady Texans looked to wrap up their playoff berth last berth, hosting Canyon Lake and battling Bandera on the road.

On Tuesday, Wimberley hosted rival Canyon Lake in the Battle of the Backbone.

The Lady Texans knocked off the rival Hawks for a 46-31 win.

On Friday, Wimberley went on the road to Bandera in the hopes of clinching the Lady Texans’ fourth straight win.

The Lady Texans prevailed, beating the Bulldogs 71-49.

With the two wins, Wimberley improved their overall record to 24-7 overall and their district record to 6-3. The pair of victories also solidified the Lady Texans berth into the postseason.

Regardless of their result on Tuesday, Wimberley will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the 4A Division II bracket with Navarro being the No. 2 seed due to both schools having smaller enrollments. Fredericksburg will be the No. 1 seed in the 4A Division I bracket while Davenport will be the No. 2 seed.

The Lady Texans will wrap up the regular season at home, 7 p.m., Tuesday against Fredericksburg.

The Texans were back in action, continuing their hunt for their first district championship since 2018.

Wimberley made the trip out to Canyon Lake on Tuesday in a showdown with the archrival Hawks. In their last meet, the Hawks defeated the Texans to hand Wimberley their only district loss of the season.

The Texans were able to avenge their lone district defeat, beating Canyon Lake 86-57.

Junior Paul Gumbert- Medoza led the team in scoring with 33 points followed by senior Bryson Anderson with 14 points. Sophomore Nathan Baker was third in scoring with 10 points.

Wimberley closed out the week at home against Bandera.

The Texans notched another win, beating the Bulldogs 77-62.

Gumbert-Medoza led the team in scoring with 22 points followed by senior Gavin Olmer with 13 points. Senior Kaegan Davis and junior Holden Crawford were tied for third in scoring with 10 points each.

With the two wins, the Texans improved their record to 22-8 overall and their district record to 6-1. Wimberley remains tied with Davenport for first place in district with the Texans owning the tiebreaker over the Wolves.

Wimberley will be back on the road Tuesday against Fredericksburg before hosting Navarro on Friday.
