Last week’s twonight Stars Over Wimberley WinterNights Showcase brought some of Americana’s best singer-songwriters and musicians to Wimberley. Nashville’s Mary Bragg and fine storyteller Courtney Patton opened the concerts with powerful performances, followed by the Rifters from Taos. Don Richmond, Rod Taylor and Jim Bradley gave a high-energy, toe tapping set that, by all accounts, “was fantastic.” Other comments included, “When the Rifters sing, you can see the mountains.”
On night two, Jaimee Harris returned to the Playhouse stage in her signature red, heart-shaped glasses showing off considerable guitar chops and tough, vulnerable lyrics. Darden Smith, on piano, delivered an introspective performance punctuated by stories, songs and ex- planations.
Mary Gauthier, accompanied by Jaimee Harris, cinched up the showcase with a heartwarming set she led off with “I Drink” from the first chapter of her book, “Saved by a Song.”
Organized through WimberleyArts.org, the WinterNights Singer- Songwriter Showcase kicks off the Stars Over Wimberley 2025 season. For upcoming performances, visit starsoverwimberley. org.
