The Lady Texans and the Texans were back on the soccer field in non-district action as district play continues to get closer.
The Lady Texans were back on the road, competing at the Salado Tournament.
In the first game of the tournament, Wimberley faced off with the Lake Dallas Falcons. The Lady Texans dominated the Falcons, scoring four goals in the first half en route to a 6-0 win.
Following the Lake Dallas win, Wimberley then faced off with the tournament hosts the Salado Eagles. The Lady Texans outlasted the Eagles in the defensive slugest and defeated Salado 1-0 following a goal in the first half.
The next day, Wimberley then faced the Carrollton Creekview Mustangs. In another thrilling win, the Lady Texans edged out the Mustangs 2-1 to punch their ticket to the championship game.
Playing for the tournament title, the Lady Texans faced the Temple Wildcats. Despite facing a Class 6A team, Wimberley rolled over the Wildcats, winning 5-0 to capture the championship.
Wimberley improves their overall record to 10-1 overall and are still undefeated against teams in Lone Star State.
The Lady Texans will be back home Thursday night against the San Marcos Lady Rattlers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Texans played on the road at Lockhart before participating in the Canyon Lake Tournament.
In their road trip to Lockhart, the Texans fell to the Lions 8-1.
Looking to bounce back, the Texans made the trip across the Devil’s Backbone to play at the Canyon Lake Tournament.
In the first game of the tournament, the Texans faced off with the Leander Glenn Grizzlies. It was another tough matchup for the Texans who fell to the Grizzlies 8-0.
Following a tough loss, the Texans faced off with the San Antonio Cole Cougars. Brushing off their two defeats, Wimberley knocked off Cole 2-1 to snap their losing streak.
The Texans closed out the tournament against the Hondo Owls. Wimberley notched another win, beating the Owls 5-0.
Wimberley’s record currently sits at 4-51 overall. The Texans will be back on the road next Tuesday against New Braunfels Canyon.
