The City of Woodcreek welcomed several special guests and their new city secretary last week at their regularly scheduled City Council meeting.
Mayor Jeff Rasco proclaimed January 19, 2025 as “Frances Louise Cobb Day.” In the proclamation presented by the mayor, Frances Cobb’s history and achievements were recognized. It read in part, “Louise was born in the east Texas town of Montalba in 1925 and has lived a life of dedication, service and remarkable achievements.”
“Louise served as Woodcreek’s first City Secretary from 1983 to 1984 under the leadership of inaugural Mayor Jack Miller, and her home on Palmer Lane was the site of the first city election and early city council meetings, laying the foundation of our community’s governance.”
The proclamation continued, “Louise has contributed to our community and beyond with her leadership of the Woodcreek Women’s Golf Association in 1987, her active membership in Chapel of the Hills church, and her zest for life, enjoying activities such as bridge, golf and travel, including riding the supersonic Concorde, and even a camel.”
The mayor “urged all residents to join in celebrating the remarkable life and contributions of this extraordinary woman on her centennial birthday.” Ms. Cobb turns 100 on January 19, 2025.
Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Robbins of Wimberley Fire and Rescue gave the council and attendees an informative presentation on the department’s background, activities and accomplishments. Robbins addressed future plans including the proposed new Station 42 and efforts to reduce insurance costs in the Wimberley Valley.
In addition to proclaiming January 19 as Frances Louise Cobb Day, Mayor Rasco introduced Woodcreek’s new city secretary, Kari Lebkuecher.
