City to mark 10-year anniversary of Memorial Day flood

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Memorial Day Flood of 2015, a defining moment in Wimberley’s history that brought profound loss but also revealed the resilience and unity of our community. To honor this milestone, the City of Wimberley is planning several events. While details are still being finalized, the city is committed to sharing updates as soon as they become available.

The Memorial Day Flood, which took place May 23 and 24, 2015, forever changed Wimberley and its residents. This anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the lives impacted, celebrate the strength of the Wimberley community and to continue fostering the unity that emerged in the aftermath.

“This anniversary is deeply meaningful to everyone in Wimberley,” said Jim Chiles, Mayor of Wimberley. “It’s a time to honor those we lost, acknowledge the enduring strength of our town, and come together as a community to reflect and give back.” In addition to planned events, the city encourages individuals, groups or organizations who wish to honor this anniversary to feel free to plan their own activities. If organizing an event or planning to collaborate, reach out so the city can share your efforts with the community.
