Lady Texans compete at Shreveport
Wimberley made the rare trip into Louisiana to participate in the Battle on the Border showcase in Shreveport where the Lady Texans faced off with a pair of schools from the Pelican State.
In their first game, Wimberley met the Captain Shreve Gators. Despite their best efforts, the Lady Texans fell to the Gators 2-1 with freshman Emma Durkin scoring the lone goal for Wimberley.
However, Wimberley bounced back from the first defeat of the season and beat the Loyola College Prep Flyers 1-0. Junior Lilli Sandoval scored the game winning goal for the Lady Texans to improve their overall record to 6-1.
Wimberley will play in their final tournament of the season, making the trip out to Salado. Lady Texans are scheduled to play the Lake Dallas Falcons 10:45 Thursday morning before playing the hosts Salado 7:30 p.m. later that night. Wimberley will also play Carrollton Creekview Mustangs 3 p.m. Friday.
Texans nab win over La Vernia
Wimberley notched their second win of the season despite freezing temperatures, beating the La Vernia Bears 1-0 at the Pleasanton Tournament.
Kaden Geron scored the game winning goal for the Texans who notched their second win of the season.
Later Wimberley faced off with the tournament hosts in Pleasanton. Despite their best efforts, the Texans fell to the Eagles 1-0.
The Texans faced off with a familiar foe later in the day against the Bandera Bulldogs. It was a high scoring affair, ending with the Texans dropping a thriller 4-3 to Bandera.
Wimberley will travel on the road to Lockhart in non-district action before making the trip through the Devil’s Backbone to play in the Canyon Lake Classic.
The Texans are scheduled to play Leander Glenn on Thursday at 12 p.m. before taking on San Antonio Cole Friday at noon.
Wimberley closes out the tournament at 12 p.m. Saturday against Hondo.
