The Lady Texans brought home their first tournament championship of the season, winning the Wimberley Battle of the Backbone Tournament after defeating the Willis Wild-kats in the championship final.
The Lady Texans started off the tournament playing against the Taylor Ducks. Wimberley dominated the Ducks in a 9-0 win.
Wimberley then faced off with the El Paso Irvin Rockets in the next game of the tournament. Once again the Lady Texans continued their dominating play, beating the Rockets 9-0.
Later in the day, Wimberley looked to clinch a spot in the championship game as the Lady Texans faced the Corpus Christi London Pirates. The Pirates were no match for the Lady Texans, defeating London 4-0 to advance in the championship final.
In the final, the Lady Texans met the Willis Wildkats. Despite facing a team two classifications higher than them, the Lady Texans were unfazed, beating the Wildkats 5-0 and winning the Battle of the Backbone championship trophy.
Along with their season opening win over Pleasanton 9-0, the Lady Texans are 5-0 and have shutout all five of their opponents and outscored them 350.
Wimberley continues tournament play on the road and crosses state lines into Louisiana to play in the Battle on the Border Tournament in Shreveport, Louisiana.
