Basketball season is in full swing in Wimberley as both the Texans and Lady Texans prepare to enter district play with superb overall records.
The Wimberley Lady Texans currently sit with a 12-3 record and are ranked No. 20 in the Texas Association Basketball Coaches State rankings.
This season, the Lady Texans took home the Navarro Tournament championship, beating Midland Greenwood in the championship final.
Last week, the Lady Texans hosted the Cuero Lady Gobblers. Wimberley had previously beaten Cuero in the Navarro Tournament.
This time, the No. 21 Lady Gobblers got their revenge as the Lady Texans dropped their home to Cuero 49-32.
Wimberley will be back on the court this weekend for the Wimberley Hoopfest Tournament Friday through Saturday.
The Wimberley Texans have also gotten off to a good start to the season. Despite dropping their first three games of the season, the Texans have won 12 out of their last 14 games including winning the Deer Capital Classic tournament at Llano.
This season has also seen junior Paul Gumbert- Mendoza surpass 1,000 career points.
Last week the Texans hosted the Poth Pirates in non-district action at home.
In a close battle with the Pirates, Wimberley edged out Poth for a 5754 win.
The Texans will also be back home this week, hosting the Wimberley Hoopfest Tournament Friday through Saturday.
