The Wimberley Youth Soccer Association is sending its first-ever girls team to the state finals this weekend at Veterans Park in College Station. The U12 division 2 girls teams competed this last weekend in San Antonio for the Western District Championships and fought hard in rainy, cold, and muddy conditions to advance to the state finals after a round robin set of games.

Because of the weather conditions, the tournament moved into a penalty kick shootout format and the Lady Texans dominated. Goalie Ruby Walker shut down the competition, blocking all 8 shots during the penalty kicks. The Lady Texans won both shootouts 2-0 and 3-0 to advance.
