Hays County pet resource center seeks volunteers for ambassador program

The Hays County Pet Resource Center has launched its Community Ambassador volunteer program which aims to build community connections so people and their pets can remain together.

In addition to reuniting lost and found pets with their families and preventing pets from going to animal shelters, ambassadors will also distribute pet food and supplies, organize outreach in local neighborhoods to promote programs, participate in community events to talk about services, connect pet owners to vital resources and host pet supply drives or collect needed donations. They will also provide one-on-one case management support for pet owners seeking help through the organization’s “Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender” or P.A.S.S. program.

“Volunteers who dedicate their time, passion and energy to be a part of our programs help save lives,” said Lee Ann Shenefiel, Hays County Pet Resource Center Director and Executive Advisor. “Getting a pet back home, supporting a family in need with essential items, or providing education and resources are important steps to keeping pets in homes where they belong.”
