Dr. Todd Henry of the Cypress Creek Animal Hospital and his wife, Talie, who serves as the hospital’s business manager, are celebrating a milestone anniversary. Dr. Henry established his practice in 1999 by purchasing the existing Cypress Creek Animal hospital. For 25 years, he’s been caring for Wimberley pets and animals.

“People in and around Wimberley are the best people and clients that we could have asked for,” said Dr. Henry during a recent visit to the hospital. When he and Talie arrived, they noticed “how friendly and down to earth people were.” They also noticed that they took great care of their animals. “They saw them as animal soul mates and considered them a part of the family,” said Talie.

This was not Dr. Henry’s first rodeo. After graduating from Texas A&M in 1988, he worked in three other practices before taking the leap to Wimberley. “Wimberley welcomed us with open arms. Living and working here has been like becoming part of a huge family.”

This year, the Henrys embarked on a deeper commitment to the community by opening their new 10,000 square foot facility at 15830 RR12, next to the existing building. “Wimberley has given us so much,” Talie said, “that we wanted to give back.”

Five doctors, including Dr. Henry, and seven veterinary technicians treat dogs, cats and birds, including pet chickens, and pocket pets like gerbils, guinea pigs and hamsters. In the large animal facility next to the hospital, they treat horses and cows, and answer ranch calls when needed.

The new hospital is impressive. Besides a spacious waiting room and reception area that allows pets plenty of personal territory, there are eight exam rooms, a two-table surgical suite, a dental suite, x-ray, an in-house lab, and pharmacy. There are isolation and recovery wards and ICU space, and, of course, separate dog and cat areas. Out back is a fenced area, complete with a red fire hydrant, for ambulatory patients. For humans saying goodbye to animal companions, a quiet comfort room with a private exit is available.

While the facility is expansive, the practice has a warm and considerate vibe, no doubt a reflection of the Henrys themselves, who are softspoken, respectful and conscientious. “Part of our mission statement that we ask our staff to embrace is to treat others as you would want to be treated with your pet,” Dr. Henry said. Based on testimonials from longtime clients, it appears to be an ingrained component of their service.

Several times during our conversation, Dr. Henry and Talie expressed how grateful they were to the Wimberley community for their support. “We want to acknowledge our clients, our team-minded staff, the goodwill and rapport of other vets in the community and the community itself.”

“We want to thank them for a wonderful 25 years,” they said.
