Hays County Unofficial Election Results

Voting Signs at Wimberley Community Center voting poll.

Author: Sean Dobbs

Before midnight on Tuesday at 11:51 p.m., every precinct in Hays County finished reporting and tallying votes. While results are considered unofficial until they’re canvassed by local officials, the results are in. Here are several highlights:
•    Voter turnout was slightly lower than in 2020. Over 126,000 people cast their ballots in Hays County, which means voter turnout was at 67.89%. In 2020 the turnout rate was 71.20%
•    The countywide $440 million transportation bond passed with 55.75% of the voters for the proposition and 44.25% against.
•    For Hays County Commissioner, Precinct 3, Morgan Hammer won with 52.82% of the vote, defeating Rebecca Minnick who received 47.18%.
•    In Wimberley, Place 1 on the WISD Board of Trustees went to Andrea Justus. Place 2 went to Lindsey Deringer.
•    In San Marcos, voters approved a tax hike to help offset the CISD’s $17.62 million shortfall for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Mayor Jane Hughson retained her seat as mayor.
