Voter Intimidation

The San Marcos Police Department is currently investigating threatening notes that were left on political signs for the Kamala Harris and Tim Walz campaign.

“YOU have been identified and are now in our National Database of miscreant Harris supporters, either by social interactions with your neighbors who are on the investigations team, or by yard signs, or vehicle bumper stickers,” the note stated. “Rather than the hangman’s nooses of the old days, you are now guaranteed that once the magnificent Donald Trump assumes the Presidency again YOU will be IRS tax audited going all the way back to your very first tax return — and at a minimum — 4 years of painful misery and attorney’s fees. Sincerely, The Grand Dragon of Trump Klan #124; San Marcos, Tx.”

The city of San Marcos stated that as of Oct. 29, two official reports have been filed with the San Marcos Police Department regarding notes recovered in San Marcos.

“The San Marcos Police Department has an ongoing investigation for Coercion of a Voter, which is a Class A misdemeanor, and are actively working to identify the suspect or suspect(s) involved so that a case can be presented to the Hays County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of applicable charges,” the city stated.

If one finds a similar note, the city asks that the note be left as is and that the person calls SMPD at 512-753-2108.

“Please do not touch the notes so that they can be collected by an officer and processed as evidence,” the city stated.
