Jeff Black at Suzanna’s Kitchen October 17
JEFF BLACK

Nashville master singer and songwriter Jeff Black will perform in Wimberley October 17 as part of the Susanna’s Kitchen Coffeehouse Concert Series at the Wimberley United Methodist Church. Known for soulful live performances, a distinctive voice and superbly- crafted songs brimming with wisdom, Black’s songs have been recorded by the likes of Alison Krauss, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Douglas, Dierks Bently, John Oates, Blackhawk and others.

Praise for the Americana artist can be found on Hyperbolium. com: “His words and voice hold down center stage with a craft so deeply in the artistic pocket that it obscures anything outside.”

His talent extends to composing music for television and film. His work can be heard on the soundtracks of “The Thing Called Love,” a 1993 American film directed by Peter Bogdanovich, as well as the acclaimed PBS documentary, “The Appalachians,” about the history of the Appalachians and its people. His craft can also be heard on the film, “Steel City,” written and directed by Brian Jun, and the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize Winner in 2006.

Listeners of Boston’s WUMB radio, the country’s foremost radio station for folk and roots music, voted Black one of the top 100 Folk artists of the last 25 years.

Tickets for the performance are $20 by cash or check at the door. Doors open at 7 and the concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tamales, pizza, pie coffee and soft drinks are available for purchase. The Wimberley United Methodist Church is located at the corner of RR12 and CR1492. Proceeds benefit the Barnabas Connection, Bright Beginnings Preschool scholarships and other nonprofits.
