Dr. Kristin Hook Wants to Solve the Border Problems
It’s time to put a representative in Congress who wants to solve the border problems instead of hanging onto them as a political cudgel. Dr. Kristin Hook is that person. Current immigration law and enforcement hasn’t worked, yet our congressional representative, Chip Roy, refused the opportunity to take bipartisan action that was supported by the Border Patrol.
The last major border policy revision was in 1996. Earlier this year, a group of senators, including James Lankford (R-Okla.), Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), proposed a bill to limit border encounters. Too many crossings would have shut down the border. While not a perfect solution, this along with money for hiring more border security and processing personnel would have provided relief and time for Congress to negotiate comprehensive change. Chip Roy, voted against that bill.
US District 21 (including Wimberley) needs a representative who is willing to work with others and to compromise in order to solve the border problems and other problems facing Congress. Dr. Hook wants to work for the common good. She has the experience in DC that shows she is a leader. She has worked for the U.S. Senate, the National Institutes of Health, and the Government Accountability Office.
While at the GAO, she helped make sure our taxpayer dollars are used wisely, and she educated Congress on emerging science and tech issues. I encourage readers to vote for a proven public servant, Dr. Kristin Hook, on November 5.
