Once again, I am begging voters to focus on education, not politics. This is supposed to be a nonpartisan election, so I’m hoping things have calmed down enough that we can truly look at the kind of representation we really need on our school board.
I’m hoping we all want to put a member on our school board that can support our board, our administrators, our teachers and, so very importantly, our students — without some kind of national agenda, someone who knows what our teachers face.
You have to have been in the trenches to know what the trenches need. This is not to insinuate that WISD is the trenches. It’s more like, “have you ever walked a mile in a teacher’s shoes?”
Not to be disparaging, but the current board members lack any kind of background in education and it’s time we include at least one board member with that type of experience.
So I recommend voting for Lindsey Deringer, an actual educator who can bring true perspective to what we need to continue to make our schools successful.
