WimberleyArt.org’s new monthly Art Crawl features Wimberley galleries open late every first Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m., with a different theme each month, guest artists, and refreshments. The Wimberley Players wind up their run of “Now & Then,” a romantic dramedy, 7:30 p.m., 150 Old Kyle Rd. The play’s ever-thickening plot unfolds as a mysterious gentleman enters a bar late one evening and makes a young couple an offer they find irresistable. Performances are Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m., Sunday 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25, $20 for students with ID at wimberleyplayers.org

Hill Country Community Band concerts, October 4, 7 p.m. at the Wimberley Valley Winery, 2825 Lone Man Mountain Rd., and October 6, 4 p.m. at Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Pkwy. Selections include “Shenandoah” by Frank Ticheli and “October” by Eric Whitacre, works by Robert Bennett and Ron Nelson, and marches by Fillmore and Sousa. Directed by Dr. Manuel Arambula, the concerts are family friendly and free.

Star Party, 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Blue Hole Regional Park. Guided stargazing in our globally-recognized Dark Sky community. All ages. Free.

Market Day, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine, 601 Farm to Market Rd 2325. Nearly 500 vendors on 20 tree-shaded acres selling art, crafts, antiques, collectibles, vintage, home décor, apparel, baby items, home items, pottery, jewelry, plants and garden items, candles, specialty foods, baskets, furniture, cowhides and many more items.

Battle of the Badges, 4-7 p.m., Wimberley Independent School District’s Baseball Complex at 290 BallPark Rd. Wimberley Fire and Rescue face off with the Hays County Sheriff’s Department in the Battle of the Badge contest. $7 for adults and $3 for kids. Children under two are free. Concessions and 50/50 raffle available. All proceeds go to the Wimberley Youth Sports Association and the American Cancer Society.

The nonpartisan League of Women Voters of Hays County presents virtual candidate forums, 7 p.m., on Zoom. October 8, Woodcreek City Council candidate forum; October 10, County Constable Pct. 2 and County Court-atlaw #3 candidate forum. Wimberley Civic Club’s Style Show and Market, 4 to 6:30 p.m., at Wimberley Community Center, 14068 RR 12. Popular happy hour style show and market showcases fashion from a dozen area businesses. Sip and nibble while watching runway models show fall and winter fashions. Shop vendor booths before and after the runway show. Tickets and VIP tickets at wimberleycc.org. Proceeds support the community through grants and scholarships.

42 Players meet Tuesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon at the Wimberley Senior Citizens Center. Partners not necessary. A $1 donation supports coffee and snacks. Look for the Senior Center suite and entrance on the right side of the Wimberley Community Center.

Wimberley Library’s Adult Craft LAB is a year-round tinker and craft program for adults 18 and up. Classes are held via Zoom on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Wimberley Garden Club meets the second Wednesday at EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens meeting room, 9:30 to 11:30, September to May, to inspire and educate homeowners about gardening in the Texas Hill Country. Refreshments and camaraderie guaranteed. Visit wimberleygardenclub. org.

The Hill Country Unit of the Herb Society of America meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Wimberley Village Library, 400 FM 2325 and features guest speakers, educational programs, and hands-on activities that promote the use of herbs for health, cooking or home care. Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group meets the first Thursday in the Presbyterian Church Library, 956 FM 2325, 12:45 to 2 p.m. For caregivers who are caring for a loved one with dementia. The Jacob’s Well Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution meets in Wimberley every second Monday to pursue historic preservation, patriotism and education in service to the community. For more, email [email protected].
