The League of Women Voters of Hays County to Host Candidate Forums

The League of Women Voters of Hays County to Host Candidate Forums

On October 8, 10 and 17, at 7 p.m., the League of Women Voters of Hays County will introduce voters to candidates on three virtual candidate forums via Zoom.

On October 8, a forum with the candidates for Woodcreek City Council will be held. On October 10, a forum with the candidates running for County Constable Pct. 2 and County Court-atlaw #3 will be held. In addition, a forum for candidates vying for San Marcos City Mayor and the San Marcos City Council will take place on October 17.

“As part of the LWV of Hays County mission to empower voters, the candidate forums are a valuable resource for voters to fully inform themselves before heading to the vote center,” said Linda Calvert, President LWV of Hays County.

“Hays County is one of the fastest growing counties in Texas and the U.S., among counties of over 100,000 population, and this means we have many more eligible voters. The LWV encourages new, as well as longtime Hays County, voters to attend these local forums to learn about the candidates vying for their votes.”

At least two participating candidates are necessary to hold a forum. Forums for candidates for the Wimberley Independent School District, Texas Senate District 25, Texas House Representative District 45, Judge Judicial District 483, Hays County District Clerk, for Sheriff, and County Commissioner Pct.3 will not be held.

Forumscanbeviewed live or afterwards from recordings on the Hays County League website, lwvhaysco.com, on the Forums Webinars Programs page under the Events tab.

Registration is not required to view the forums. Voters can simply click on the link for a particular forum at 7 p.m. the scheduled day to view it live.

The event schedule can also be accessed on the Events Calendar on their website, lwvhaysco. com/forumswebinarsprograms, as well as the LWV Hays County Facebook page. Forum questions for the candidates have been prepared by LWV with input from the community.
