Members of the Blanco County Association of Retired Educators, or BCARE, recently presented books to pre-kindergarten, special education and self-contained classes at Blue Hole primary school.
BCARE is an organization to offer support to retirees from the education profession, as well as those who retired from any educational institution. BCARE is a part of Texas Retired Teachers Association, which has 240 units in the state of Texas. These units are the backbone of the organization. Their volunteers fill much-needed gaps in support and supplies for Texas teachers. Now, BCARE supports working teachers in the Wimberley independent School System, as well as Blanco and Johnson City Independent School Districts.
While the core of the membership was formed in Blanco, members also come from Johnson City, Driftwood, Dripping Springs and Wimberley. The group meets four times a year, which offers the opportunity to meet other retired teachers and to engage in targeted service projects. Wimberley members who were part of the presentation said they hope that the books will ensure a lifelong love of learning with even the youngest learners.
