The No.1 ranked Texans continued their dominant stretch in non-district play with a pair of sweeps against the Blanco Panthers and the Burnet Bulldogs.
Wimberley improves to 23-2 overall and holds the No. 1 ranking in the Texas Girls Coaches Association for the second straight week.
The Texans started the week at home against longtime nemesis the Blanco Panthers.
Despite Blanco’s best efforts, the Texans took the first set 25-19. In the second set, Wimberley again fought off the Panthers attempts to win 25-18.
The Texans closed out the third set in emphatic fashion, taking the third set 25-9 to win the match 3-0.
Senior outside hitter Laney Hennessee led the team in kills with 13 followed by junior Lilli Sandoval with seven. Junior Addison Parks rounded the top three with six.
The junior duo of Carson Peoples and Skylar Herring both led the team in assists with 13 while junior Mariah McCoy led the team in blocks with four. Rhaegan Masur led the team in digs with nine.
Wimberley closed out their week in a showdown with the Burnet Bulldogs.
The Texans dominated the Bulldogs in the first set with a 2511 win. Wimberley followed up the first set with a dominant second set win 25-7.
The Bulldogs were able to improve in the third set but it wasn’t enough as Wimberley won the third set 25-14 to win the match 3-0.
Hennessee led the team in kills with 10, followed by Parks with nine. Sandoval was third with five.
Peoples led the team in assists with 19 followed by Herring with 12. McCoy led the team in blocks with four and Masur led the team in digs with 10.
Wimberley continues non-district play at home against the Lockhart Lions Tuesday night before the Wimberley View press time. The Texans will then travel to Cuero on Friday in a showdown with the Gobblers.
