Now & Then opens at Wimberley Players this weekend
The Wimberley Players open their performance of the romantic dramedy, “Now & Then,” this Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will continue through October 6. The play’s ever-thickening plot about choices unfolds as a mysterious elderly gentleman enters a bar late one evening and makes a young couple an offer they find irresistable. As the couple navigates the unexpected proposition, they soon discover the old man’s profound involvement in their lives, which challenges their understanding of reality.
Written by actor and writer Sean Grennan, the play’s narrative of twists and turns promises to entertain and provoke as it delves into the complexities of life choices and the paths that individuals choose. In addition to “Now & Then,” Grennan has written “Making God Laugh,” “A Rock Sails By,” and “The Tin Woman.” The Players presented “The Tin Woman” to critical acclaim in 2020.
Directed by Milton Zoth, the director and his design team have created an authentic 1980’s Chicago-style bar, complete with vintage jukebox and video game.
Four actors comprise the cast of the funny and heartwarming rom-com. Camden Rivers, who was last seen as “Marlowe” in the Players presentation of “Shakespeare in Love,” and Trinity Adams, last seen as Vivienne in “Legally Blonde the Musical,” are two of the performers. Veteran Wimberley Players actors Danny Mosier and Melinda Ellisor complete the cast.
“NOW AND THEN” is presented through special arrangements with Playscripts, Inc. The work is appropriate for all audiences, ages 12 years and older.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for reserved seating and $20 for students with ID and are available online at wimberleyplayers. org or by calling 512-847-0575.
